WANTED BRACELET
Choosing a bracelet, on paper, is quick.
You look, you try it on, you think "why not," and it's done. In a few minutes, the deal is sealed.
What's much less simple, however, is finding the one you truly keep. The one that doesn't end up at the bottom of a drawer after three weeks, between an old watch and headphones that only work on one side.
Because the truth is, a bracelet either stays or it goes. There's no real in-between.
THE PROBLEM IS, THEY'RE EVERYWHERE
Bracelets are everywhere. And many try to assert their presence too strongly.
Highly elaborate, very visible pieces that immediately catch the eye… but which you tire of almost as quickly. Conversely, some are so discreet that they completely disappear, to the point of being almost useless.
Between the two, there's a rather narrow zone where the object finds its place without overdoing it. And it's rarely there that the magic happens.
THE MORNING TEST
There's a very simple, infallible moment.
In the morning, you get dressed, you pass by the mirror, and you hesitate. "Should I wear it today?"
If the answer depends on your outfit, your mood, or the weather, that's already a bad sign.
A good bracelet, you don't negotiate with it. It's there, every day, no discussion.
CORD OR METAL
Metal provides structure, a certain hold. Cord, on the other hand, is more flexible, more lively, but often less durable.
So, we find ourselves having to choose between two approaches that never fully meet the need.
Or, we try to find a balance that lasts over time, without falling into excess or fragility.
A PIECE THAT ACCEPTS TO LIVE
A bracelet is made to be worn. Truly.
It will take knocks, go underwater, stay in the sun, be forgotten, handled without too much care. And that's perfectly fine.
What matters isn't that it remains intact, but that it remains, full stop.
IN THE END
A good bracelet isn't one that completes an outfit. It's one that accompanies you without asking for your opinion.
At Pollux, we try to make pieces like that. Simple objects that find their place and never leave it.
